Dean River 2008
Every summer I am lucky enough to guide on the Lower Dean River on the British Columbia coast. The Lower Dean is famous for having the hottest steelhead you ever going to hook period. Fresh from the ocean, sea lice still attached, these mint bright bullets will test the best of the reels made. It’s a bit frightening when they take off but one gets used to it. I have caught a lot of steelhead over the last 30 years or so and nothing compares to a Dean River steelhead. I will be there again this year starting in mid June when we get a combination of steelhead and the tackle busting crome chinooks. The season progresses through July with more steelhead coming and tapering off in mid August . In August, Coho start to appear. They are some of the biggest on the coast. It s a fishery every one should try at least once. And I am sure some of you will make it an annual pilgrimidge. If you are interested drop me a line or contact John Blackwell at Moose Lake Lodge, B.C..
